Euro rounds, unfair training schedule

  • danish

    Hi

At the first euro round in Zwolle, I was racing the 17/24 class, which was 92 riders big. We had to train with all other challange classes, except for cruisers. I guess we at least were 400 riders. We had 1 hour and 15 minutes of training.

The parque ferme was totally stuffed and I was unlucky to pick the wrong queues, so I only managed to get 2 laps on the track.

Some of my friends got 4 laps, and I didnt hear about anyone getting more laps that..

Then I went to the stands, from where I could see that though the Elite Men riders only had 45mins of practice, the elite riders could easily get 10+ laps.

The same was the case with junior men.

Ive just registred for the euro round in Dessel, but unfortunately I just realised that the training programme hasnt been changed since Zwolle. This I think is disrespectful to the riders. The people who made the programme are obviously not riders, which I guess is why its so unfair to the challange riders.

Just because we, in 17/24, arent pros it doesnt mean that we have to be treated worse than the elite and junior classes. It would be more fair if the elite men had less practice laps than us in 17/24, cause the elite men have the skills to jump everything in their second practice lap, many 17/24 riders will need more laps than that.

Also, since almost everyone attending a euro round, have to take thursday and/or friday off from school or work. The training could easily start an hour or two than now, and maybe last an hour longer.

I am a rider to in 17/24 and i totally agree with that. The training schedule is unfair indeed. The cruiser training is 45 or 30 minutes and even they can ride 10+ laps. In zwolle i made 4 laps training on fryday and just 2 laps on saturday wich is not much to get perfectly around the track. I only disagree with the fact that the championship classes have to got less practise laps because for them the race is more important then the challenge classes. I think the best solution is to train in 2 blocks for the challenge classes and each 45/60 minutes or somenthing like that. Then you have less riders and you can ride more laps.

what i wrote about the championship classes, was just to put the training schedule into perspective. So that people can understand that the schedule is unfair. I dont think that elite men shouldve less training time than they do now

Do you have wright this to the UEC? If not, send them an email and wright down what's the problem and how they can solve this. Maybe you can send it also to Dessel, but they have no influence about this.

Ive sent the UEC a mail

    hey,

i'm the organiser from Dessel and i have already talk abaut this with UEC in Italy, my proposel for trying out in Dessel is that the challange riders have more time to practice and cruiser less time, because the previous rounds where not so many cruiser riders and a lot off cruiser riders are also competing in challange.

we as organiser have nothing to say abaut this matter, we can only make a suggestion to UEC and they told me in Italy that they going to think abaut this for Dessel.

hope to see you in Dessel at the JOEL SMETS BMX CICUIT.

Frank, that sounds really good, look forward to the race.. track looks good

This is a good subject, but the wrong “solution” is being enforced here.

Instead of shortening the cruiser practice, why not add the 17+ challange classes to the cruiser group. Extend the time to 60 minutes and everyone will be able to make atleast 5 laps. This makes the practice for us cruiser riders more attractive aswell.

If you want to make a fair schedule for the practice sessions on friday, then get the total ammount of unique riders and divide them in 2 challange groups and the rest are junior/elite.

Bo, I agree with you. The only trouble is the few 17+ riders that race cruiser as well. But that'll be less than 10 riders.

I was happy had to work the friday in Zwolle, so I couldn't go to practice. Putting more than 400 riders in 45 minutes is not a good option. When the tracks are more challenging, with more time needed for the challenge-riders to get to know the track, than this time is really to short.

I hope the UEC will be wise enough to change the schedule for practice. They can use Dessel (good work Frank!!) as a test case. But I have my doubts about it. They also ignored the call of the riders Men 25-29 and 30+ 2-3 years ago to combine the classes in the rounds, to prevent to have two groups of less than 8 riders……

Anyway, we'll see in Dessel. And when they don't change the schedule or split the groups, we'll just have to start a riot during the practice :)

    Regards, Paul.

i think every one has a point, but you can not change a time shedule during the season, all the organisers have already send a invitation to all the countrys with a time shedule, you can make some changes to next year.

i think we have to find a solution within this time shedule to satisfied everyone.

We going to try in Dessel that the parc fermé is going as fast as posible and the track is not that long, so that makes also a little bit differance.

see you all in Dessel and make it the greatest weekend off the season

    Frank
