The competition in Holland is pretty good. But around that there seems to be a lot of things that?s not right. I like to say the following:
I know it sounds greedy to ask for better prize money for the races. But it is a part of a top sport. Because training cost a lot of time and energy. Travelling to races cost a lot of time and money. Top riders need to make sacrifices to be at a top level. In Holland the completion is pretty good. But the prize money is ridicules low at the Dutch race?s.
I know that some of the top riders in Holland see the Dutch championships more as a training instead of a real championship. Witch is very bad. I think we can change that if the federation ask themselves if they want to have it only as a family sport or also as a respected sport with professional athletes.
I mean, we need to improve the level of the tracks for the national races. Separate the national riders from the local riders. Have the nationals more professional instead a social meeting.
Like last weekend almost every kids from 12 years was jumping everything around the track. Tracks like this are not challenging enough for the national riders. The tracks for national races should have the same level as the international tracks. For many years I?ve been looking up to bmx in Holland. Bud right now I feel a little disappointed about the situation?..
Please don?t get me wrong on this. I love the sport of bmx to much to tear it down.
I like to say especially to the knwu-people and the organizes: it?s time to move on! And bring bmx to the next level. I know it not only the knwu-people and the organizers. We have to do this together to make it work?..
